On Institutional Continuity and the Freudian Inheritance

A founding editorial note on why serious institutions remain necessary for the transmission of psychoanalytic thought.

The continuity of psychoanalytic thought depends not only on interpretation, but also on institutional form. Traditions of inquiry survive where communities, archives, standards, and editorial work give them durable shape.

This opening editorial reflects the Society’s conviction that Freudian psychoanalysis continues to require institutions capable of preserving depth against simplification and continuity against fragmentation.
